At the end of Week 1 of cricket’s biggest tournament 2015 Cricket World Cup, with total number of 13 matches being played from both Group A and Group B, it is India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan who is leading the race of top runs scorer. His solid innings of 137 against South Africa powered India to a confident total with Team India winning the match comfortably by 130 runs. In his opening match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Dhawan had scored well-made 73 against Pakistan. With a total 210 runs, Shikhar Dhawan of Group B’s placed India lead as the highest runs scorer. Another Indian batsman, Vice-captain Virat Kohli also features in this list, thanks to the ton against Pakistan in Adelaide.
The second placed batsmen in the top runs scorer is also from the Group B. With total 160 runs, it is South African left-handed batsman David Miller who takes the second place. While Group A’s New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is closely following at number three spot with 157 runs. He also boasts of the best strike rate of 182.55 in the 11th edition of world cup so far. The fourth and fifth place is occupied by Virat Kohli with 153 runs and West Indies player Lendle Simmons with 152 runs. It is surprising to see the top runs scorer being heavily dominated by the Group B nations.
