Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko, who was arrested on Saturday for possessing cocaine, has refused to disclose details on drug parties held earlier in Kochi to the police.
The actor has taken a stance that he will not share details of 'his friends', sources said. However, the police have started investigation on the information that 100 grams of cocaine was brought to the city on January 8.
Though Shine admitted that he was part of 'smoke parties' held at various places in Kochi, he refused to tell police that who all attended them. Even after repeated questioning by policemen, Shine did not given in.
When asked whether he had attended parties of a film producer, who is known for organising rave parties in the city, Shine said that he has 'not grown enough to get an invite for such parties'.
Police officials are hoping that they will find more information about the regulars from film industry who are involved in such drug parties after questioning Shine and co.
Shine Tom Chacko and four women – an associate film director and 3 models – were arrested from a flat in Kadavanthara here Friday night after police raided the place on a tip off and recovered 10 grams of cocaine.
The flat of controversial businessman Mohammed Nizam, who was arrested two days ago for ramming his vehicle against a security guard in Thrissur, had been rented out to Reshma, one of the detained models.
Sources suggest that Blessy, an associate film director who has close links with Nizam, was the one who got the cocaine. Police had received information that 100 grams of cocaine were transported to Kochi in a bus from Goa on January 8 and they believed this was the same drug that they recovered during the raid.
However, Blessy said that the drug was bought directly from Goa, putting the police force in a fix.
Shine, who worked for 10 years as assistant director with various directors, got his first break in Kamal's much acclaimed film 'Gaddama', in which he essayed the role of a shepherd.
Thereafter he was cast as a local goon in 'Annayum Rasoolum', a pshychopath killer in 'Ee Adutha Kalath' and a criminal on parole in 'Chapters'.
Shine had essayed the lead role in the hit film 'Ithihaasa', which was released in October last year.
Kochi Police commissioner K.G. James told reporters a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act had been registered against the arrested.
